It has been revealed that Facebook paid a staggering $8.5 million (£5.4 million) to acquire the domain name... fb.com
Incredibly, this is 42 times what they originally paid for facebook.com, for which they forked out $200,000 (£128.000) in August 2005, a heavy invesment itself which clearly paid off.
Fb.com was previously owned by a non-profit organisation, American Farm Bureau Federation, which uses fb.org as it's primary domain.
It just goes to show always be on the look out for great domain names, they may one day pay off, literally!
